You cannot have real Love without having God. But, if your love is selfish at all, then it is not from God. Unselfish Love hurts or costs the giver. It is formed in an act that is a free gift to another. Selfish love only gratifies the giver. God is not in it. 1 Corinthians 13:5 . . .Love does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.
If you Love another with a Love that gives of itself until it hurts then you have God within. But, if you hate, taking from others until you are gratified, then you have demons within. 1 John 2:9 Whoever says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in darkness. 10 Whoever loves his brother abides in the light, and in him there is no cause for stumbling. 11 But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
You cannot truly Love without the help of God.
