11-2 To commit idolatry is to allow something to capture your desire other than Me. It is to commit spiritual adultery. Many things can be idols . . . money, self-glorification, control, influence, bodily desires, peer approval, comfort, happiness, justice. The phrase, “eating meat sacrificed to idols,” means to approve of idols and accept them as legitimate and appropriate whether in your own life or in the lives of others. 1 Corinthians 10:21You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons. 22 Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? We are not stronger than He, are we? 23 All things are lawful, but not all things are profitable.
